More About Kaytee Van Clark
Clinical Interests:
Mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and attachment disorders in children/adolescents ages 4-16. ODD/conduct disorder in children ages 4-10. The use of child-centered play therapy, CBT, DBT techniques, family therapy, and solution-focused modalities.
Clinical Approach:
I strive to conduct therapy using a person-centered approach that looks first at the client for who they are, viewing them as human beings and looking second at the presenting problem or diagnosis. I believe that we are not defined by our pasts, our struggles, or our mental illness diagnoses. Feelings and experiences do not define us.
“You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but, importantly, YOU ARE NOT THE RAIN.” — Matt Haig
I also see the therapeutic process as being led on a client-oriented timeline, meaning change is not expected to occur overnight, in two weeks or two months if the client does not feel ready to share or do something that will be respected.
“Sometimes the people around you won’t understand your (mental health) journey. They don’t need to, it’s not for them.” — Joubert Botha
Hobbies:
I enjoy spending time with friends and family and being outdoors. Whether I’m going for a bike ride, playing frisbee, painting, or curling up in a sunny spot to read a book- I spend a lot of my time outside. I also spend a lot of time hanging out with my fur baby, a cat named Monkey Moo. I like to bake and am currently learning how to make my own sourdough bread.
